GRANARY HERITAGE REVITALIZATION, BUDAJENŐ, 2018

“The granary was built in the end of the XVIII. century, in late gothic style and belonged to the Scottish Benedictine order. The remaining parts of the building had to wait a long time for renovation. The residents of Budajenő decided to turn the granary into a public building, in three years time, by using their own resources and with some help from the State. Both the design program and the revitalization of the granary is outstanding. The elevator tower attached to the back facade is the representation of the harmony between the old structure and the new, commonly used structural line. With the respect of the past the building got a new innovative function, resulting in the uplifting of the town’s cultural value. The work on the rooms and their surfaces, the formation of the details is equivalent to the history of the granary and the new function. The simple, but elegant interior design is in complete harmony with the building’s outer and inner appearance.”
