“When locating the building, we considered the structure of ANS II building, designed by Tamás Nagy, as a starting point. The surroundings did not require new architectural character, preferably the existing one needed to be reinforced. The new building strives for harmonious relationship with ANS II, it does not counterpoint the original building. Although the façade has similar character, its details and function make it significantly different from that of ANS II. On the one hand we wanted to come out with some innovation concerning the appearance of the building in order to indicate the cutting edge technology of the function. On the other hand we definitely intended to connect to the character of the existing building. Despite our striving for innovation, we wanted to avoid cool high-tech character. We wanted to design a beautifully ageing house. The material of the unique shading ceramic lamella rows running horizontally around the façades is a direct allusion to the adjacent brick façade. The lamellas' colour is identical with the colour of the extendible building and their transparency recalls the complexity and airiness of ANS II's glass feathers.”
