“As for the exterior, the existing houses have been renovated by using their original materials. Due to its forms, the new hotel building is differing, but its gestures react to the behaviour of the surrounding houses. The Classicist building's monolithic volume and surfaces resulted in material-reduction in the new part. The same kind of stone has been used on the façade, the pavement, the roof and in the interior, thus fostering coherency and homogeneity. It was our strong desire to create a characteristic surface, not just a surface that looks like something. Therefore stone is not a covering material, but the material of the building elements of the walls and the roof.”
